Description

This baked ham with brown sugar glaze is everything I love about classic holiday cooking sweet, savory, tender, and soul-satisfying. The brown sugar crust melts into every spiral slice, while citrus and honey bring brightness to balance the richness. Whether itโ€™s Easter Sunday, a cozy winter gathering, or a festive weekend dinner, this ham is always the star of the table.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 spiral cut ham (bone-in), 6-10 pounds
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and set a rack inside a large roasting pan.
  2. Rinse and dry the ham, then wrap it in foil, leaving the top slightly open.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, orange juice, honey, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer for 3โ€“4 minutes until thickened.
  4. Unwrap the top of the ham and spoon the glaze generously over each slice, letting it seep into every cut.
  5. Re-seal the foil tightly around the ham to keep it moist.
  6. Bake for about 90 minutes, basting once halfway through, until the glaze is bubbling and the ham is heated through.
  7. For a stickier glaze, unwrap the ham in the final 10 minutes and broil for a golden finish.

Equipment

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze sliced ham (with glaze) for up to 2 months. Reheat covered in foil at 300ยฐF for 15โ€“20 minutes or microwave individual slices with a bit of glaze to keep them moist. Avoid over-microwavingโ€”it can dry out the meat.
