Description

Cheesy Ranch Potatoes and Smoked Sausage is a hearty, comforting casserole layered with tender thinly sliced potatoes, savory smoked sausage, rich cream, and plenty of melted cheddar cheese. Itโ€™s the kind of cozy, family-style dinner that fills your kitchen with incredible aroma and delivers big flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC)
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined
  4. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, slightly overlapping
  5. Top with half of the sliced smoked sausage rounds
  6. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheddar cheese
  7. Pour half of the cream mixture evenly over the layers
  8. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, sausage, and cream mixture, reserving remaining cheese
  9. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes
  10. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until melted, bubbly, and golden brown
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and serve hot

Notes

For best results, slice potatoes uniformly thin (about 1/8 inch) for even cooking. Substitute smoked sausage with kielbasa, chorizo, or Italian sausage if desired. Assemble up to step 9 and refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking, adding 10 extra minutes if baking from cold. Leftovers reheat well and taste even better the next day. For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
