- 8 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or provolone)
- 8 slices deli ham (smoked or honey ham recommended)
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise (or to taste)
- Mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Spread mayonnaise on 8 slices of bread
- Layer each with 1 slice of cheese and 1 slice of deli ham
- Add a light spread of mustard on top, if using
- Top with the remaining slices of bread to create sandwiches
- Cut out 2 Christmas trees from each sandwich using a tree-shaped cookie cutter
- Press the cookie cutter firmly and wiggle slightly for a clean cut
- Wipe the cutter between uses for sharper edges
- Chill sandwiches briefly before cutting for neater results
Notes
Store uncut sandwiches in the fridge up to 2 days. Best enjoyed the day they're cut. Swap ham with turkey, chicken, or veggie slices. Use gluten-free bread if needed. Turn prep into a fun holiday activity by letting kids help with the cutting.
