Description

Cinnamon Roll French Toast Roll-Ups are what I make when I can't decide between soft, gooey cinnamon rolls and golden, buttery French toast. They deliver cinnamon-swirled sweetness, crisp caramelized edges, and that warm, bakery-style aroma that fills the kitchen before anyone even opens their eyes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8-10 slices soft white sandwich bread (crusts removed)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons milk (whole milk preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted (plus more for cooking)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Trim crusts from bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin until thin and flexible
  2. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl
  3. Spread a thin layer of softened cream cheese over each slice
  4. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over the cream cheese
  5. Roll each slice tightly and place seam-side down
  6. Whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a shallow bowl
  7. Quickly roll each bread log in the egg mixture without soaking
  8. Roll coated bread logs in remaining cinnamon sugar
  9. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat
  10. Cook roll-ups seam-side down first, turning every 2-3 minutes until evenly golden
  11. Serve warm dusted with powdered sugar and maple syrup

Notes

Flatten bread thoroughly for easy rolling. Cook seam-side down first to seal. Keep heat at medium to prevent burning the sugar. Refrigerate leftovers up to 3 days or freeze up to 1 month. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven for best texture.
