Description

This Easy Cream Cheese Danish delivers all the joy of a bakery treat with the simplicity of home baking. Buttery puff pastry, creamy vanilla-scented filling, and a jewel-like dollop of fruit preserves itโ€™s a morning hug wrapped in golden layers.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup fruit preserves (raspberry or apricot)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice until silky smooth.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 even squares.
  4. Spoon a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.
  5. Top with a teaspoon of fruit preserves right on the cream cheese.
  6. Gently fold the corners of the pastry inward, pinching slightly in the middle to hold their shape.
  7. Brush with beaten egg to get that golden, bakery-style finish.
  8. Bake for 20โ€“25 minutes, until puffed and gorgeously golden.
  9. Cool slightly before serving. Theyโ€™re dreamy warm, but lovely at room temp too.

Notes

Store any leftover pastries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat in oven at 350ยฐF for 5โ€“7 minutes or air fryer at 330ยฐF for 3โ€“4 minutes. Microwave 15โ€“20 seconds if needed (note: pastry may lose crispness). Customize with different preserves, almond extract, or seasonal flavors like apple butter or cranberry.
