Description

These Halloween Mummy Meatballs are spooky, fun, and irresistibly tasty! Juicy beef meatballs are wrapped in golden puff pastry “bandages” with olive eyes peeking out. Perfect for Halloween parties, kids’ snacks, or a festive appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Mummy Wraps:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 12 pitted black olives (sliced into rings (for eyes))
  • 2 Tbsp tomato ketchup (optional, as glue for eyes)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Roll mixture into 12 even meatballs. Place on prepared baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes, until cooked through. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, unfold puff pastry and cut into thin strips (¼ inch wide). Wrap strips around each meatball, leaving gaps for eyes.
  5. Whisk egg and brush over wrapped meatballs. Place seam-side down on baking sheet.
  6. Bake 15–18 minutes, until pastry is puffed and golden.
  7. Cool slightly, then attach two olive slices to each meatball using ketchup (optional) for spooky eyes. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Don’t wrap too tightly pastry needs room to puff.
  • Prep meatballs ahead, then wrap and bake before serving.
  • Great served with marinara sauce for “bloody” dipping fun!
