Units
Scale
- 1 lb uncooked extra large shrimp (26-30/lb., thawed & peeled, tails optional)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, divided
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Thaw and prep shrimp: If frozen, place shrimp in a colander under cool water. Peel, devein, and pat dry.
- Melt half the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add shrimp in a single layer. Sear 1 minute per side until just turning pink. Flip with tongs.
- Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Pour in broth. Let it bubble for 2 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Add remaining butter, lemon juice, and parsley. Stir until the butter melts completely.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately, spooning the buttery sauce over each portion.
Notes
Don’t overcook the shrimp—they should be pink and just curled. Serve over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread. Use vegan butter for dairy-free, and dry white wine for extra flavor depth.
